Humankind was not meant to toil away in a daily grind. We are a social animal, and while work is necessary to maintain the luxuries we enjoy, there is always room in the calendar for celebration. Life is a celebration, and, therefore, so are birthdays. The harvest is a time to celebrate and so is the first Spring bloom. Remembrances and anniversaries get jammed in between religious ceremonies. The New Year of course and, well, why not the day before the New Year? Also weekends, and three day weekends, and let’s take a day to celebrate Labor away from labor. Let’s have nationality days, too; and war memorials – but the beginning of the war or the end? Why not both? We have 365 days in our calendar, but multitudes more things to celebrate! When the celebration never stops, has the National Holiday Calendar become the real daily grind? Join Veronique and Mat as we try to schedule a new day: to celebrate nothing – and, lo – that day’s taken.
