Trading goods and services is a natural part of life. Crows and cats pay for food with – sometimes unwelcome – gifts. But humanity, as with all natural things, has taken this concept and exacerbated it to the point of machiavellian purgatory. Now, the whole world is propped up by the flow of advertising. Like the mummery of a Hollywood set – glamour on the front but rusty, hollow rigging behind – the modern world is so saturated with advertising that our brains process it out like your own nose from your vision.
Their are two ads on the side of the screen that you’re reading this on right now. There’s a mattress jingle on the radio and a Grubhub flyer in your periphery. Every aspect of the entertainment industry is a barely translucent curtain thinly covering corporate ad money. And as advertisers try harder and harder to garner our attention, their desperation transmits louder than their product.
