The Earth revolves around the sun in a complacent rhythm. At no point in the history of the universe did the Earth consider one revolution particularly noteworthy compared to another. It is humankind that makes any specific day special. A day of Holly. A holiday is a time that we celebrate life or love or food or festival. It is a moment to break the monotony of endlessly circling the sun. But there is another type of legal person that has corrupted these merry moments. Corporations. Corporations have transformed the holidays into annual pledges of monetary devotion. Want to prove your love to your family? Then spend the money. We have degraded to the point that we have multiple holidays now that celebrate the buying of gifts for another holiday. Black Friday is the joyous day we reenact the Hunger Games to achieve the rarest Funko-Pops at the KB Toy Store; and worse, Cyber Monday is the day we all conveniently hand our paychecks over to the corporate overlords without even having to leave the house.
