The exchange of money for goods and services is the cornerstone of civilization. Goods have value, and money has value; and often, service has value. And America recognizes good service. We tip everyone. We recognize good service so hard that when we receive bad service we still tip for good service. Tipping is so ubiquitous in America that the tax code reflects tips, Corporate pay scales have expected tips in the job listing, Minimum Wage is lowered for tipped employees, and service counters have more tip jars than cash registers. Now, in the modern era of contactless payments, the whole computer swivels around for you to input a tip… before even any service has been rendered. And when we have to pay a tip before any motion happens, is this not fully a bribe? Choose a percentage before Mat, Veronique, and Guest – Brian Reilly – consider your request for service as we sit in judgement of how much you’re Tipping in Advance!
